Description	:	Celebration of Life services for Virgel "Gus" Yaddof, Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Private family burial will be Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Gus passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at his home. Gus was born June 29, 1923, in Goose Lake, Iowa, the son of August and Augusta (Petersen) Yaddof. Virgel was married in 1946 to Lois Bickford. Lois passed away in 1981. In 2000, he married Shirley Morgan. Gus worked at Mel Foster Co. for 40 years. He served as a vice president and managed the former East River Drive office for many years. He was a past president of Greater Davenport Board of Realtors and was voted Realtor of the Year in 1983. Before joining Mel Foster Co., he was a regional manager in the insurance business. Gus was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He participated in several invasions, including Saipan and Tinian, for which he received numerous campaign ribbons and a Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 246, VFW, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge, all of Davenport. Gus enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, having a beer and socializing with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Joyce Yaddof, Davenport, and Jeff and Cheryl Yaddof, Davenport; grandchildren, Justin, and his wife, Christy, Shaun, and his fiancee, Heather, Dexter and Amber; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Madison; sisters, Velma Hankemeier, Andrew, Iowa, and Virginia Klahn, Maquoketa, Iowa; stepchildren, Mike and Sue Fear, Davenport, Linda Morgan, Davenport, and Ken and Jodie Morgan, Davenport; and step-grandchildren, Kelly and Kerry Fear, Melissa Morgan, and Randy, Ben, Zach and Josh Morgan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor, in 1987. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Conway Chin and his staff at Genesis Rehabilitation Department.
