Her husband, Warren Gill Brown, preceded her in death. Born July 28, 1921, in Kinston, NC, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey Leonard Dickerson and Eva Boswell Dickerson Wood. She was a member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church. As a young woman, Mrs. Brown was head bookkeeper for First National Bank in Lynchburg before she lived abroad with her husband Warren, who was in the United States Navy. Later in life, when she returned to Lynchburg, she worked part time as receptionist for Ralph's Beauty Salon. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Warren David Brown, and Michael Gill Brown; three sisters, Josephine D. Whitten, Evelyn D. Wright, and Louise D. Porter; and two brothers, Leonard Dickerson and Henry Dickerson. Survivors also include a devoted niece, Carolyn Dickerson Harvey and husband Ted, of Madison Heights; granddaughter, Lisa Brown Grow and husband Michael, of Thaxton; two great-grandchildren, Cole Houston Ogden, and Savannah Renee Grow; a stepsister, Linda Wood Johnson and husband, Ernest, of Madison Heights; a step-brother, Bobby Wood and wife, Lee of Lynchburg; her SPECIAL BOYS, David Case, Jimmy Dickerson, Roy Dickerson, Chad Klacynski, Dr. Steve Long, Phillip Porter, Tommy Wright and many others, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Curt Taylor, Sheppard at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church for the devoted fellowship he gave to Mrs. Brown, and also to Hospice of the Hills, and the staff on English I at Virginia Baptist Hospital. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, by the Rev. Glynn A. Coleman. Interment will take place in Spring Hill Cemetery. A visitation with reception will be held from 11-12:00 noon at the funeral home prior to the service.
