Description	:	Virgil Albin Anderson, the son of Frank A. and Jennie M. (Ortegren) Anderson, was born at Marquette, Nebraska on December 4, 1918, and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 12, 2003, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 8 days. Read More	Virgil Albin Anderson, the son of Frank A. and Jennie M. (Ortegren) Anderson, was born at Marquette, Nebraska on December 4, 1918, and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 12, 2003, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 8 days. Virgil received his education at Country School District 89 in Hamilton County through the eighth grade. He farmed with his dad until entering the U.S. Army Air Force in August 1942. He was united in marriage on June 30, 1943 to Nina L. Hansen in Frederick, Oklahoma. He was stationed in San Antonio and Greenville, Texas, and Frederick and Enid, Oklahoma. Upon his discharge in February 1946, they made their home in Marquette where he worked for Frank Gion for 7 years and learned the carpenter trade. He served as Village Marshall for 18 years and for 25 years he was a water and sewer operator for the Village of Marquette. Due to health reasons he retired in 1980. He was a Lions Club Member for 22 years in Hordville and Marquette. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 for 52 years, and the Marquette Volunteer Fire Department for 36 years. Virgil enjoyed woodworking, feeding the squirrels and birds in his yard, and playing Santa Claus. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irene Bergen, and a son, Steven. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Nina of Marquette: daughter Judy (Wilson) Dukes of Lexington; daughter Emily (Tom) Mersch of Marquette; four grandsons, Wilson Dukes III of Lexington, Michael (Cami) Dukes of Beaver City, Bill (Kerilyn) Mersch of Marquette, and Matt Dukes of Lexington; one granddaughter, Jennie (Matt) Snoberger of Hampton; six great-grandchildren, Gennie, Ashley, Gage and Michaela of Beaver City, Jack of Hampton and Kelsey of Marquette. He is also survived by one sister, Myrtle Buller of Aurora.
