Description	:	Virgil Schulte, 88, Emery, SD died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, August 1 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Emery. Burial will be in the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 pm Friday with a scripture and rosary service at 7:30 pm at the church. Virgil Anthony Schulte was born June 25, 1927 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Mitchell to John and Clementine (Stallman) Schulte. He graduated from St. Martin's Catholic School in Emery. He served in the US Army at the end of World War II. On January 15, 1951 Virgil married Marjorie Ruden. They farmed in the Emery area for many years. Virgil was a long time school bus driver and also served as a custodian at St. Martin's Church. In his retirement he and Margie spent many summers traveling across the country in their motor home. Virgil was a devout Catholic who lived his faith on a daily basis and passed it onto his children. He was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir, was a Eucharistic minister and a lector. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and was a member of the National Farmers Organization. His legacy includes his loving wife of 64 years, Margie and his eight children: Tom (Carol) Schulte, Mary (Mitch) Wilcox, Terry Schulte, Jane (Jay) Narverud, Jon (Nancy) Schulte, Christi (Kevin) Schnabel, Dan (Sarah) Schulte and Joe (Mary) Schulte, 37 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren along with many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and their spouses and 2 grandchildren.
