Virgil Bennington Landrum. horn February 7, 1908 in Jackson County, Ohio and departed this life March 3, 1981 at his home on Ray, Ohio, Route 1 at the age of severity-three years and twenty-four days. He was the son of Alonzo and Flora Bennington Lan¬drum. Virgil was united in marriage February 8, 1930 to Zelda Alberta Downard of Coalton, Ohio. To this union six children were born. Verda- Elaine, Adelyn Alberta, Virgil Blaine, Janet. Loretta, Olive Juanita, and Charlotte Lynn. He was preceded in death by his son, Virgil Blaine on April 5, 1979 and his eldest son February 19, 1979. He is survived by is devoted wife, Zelda, and his five daughters: Elaine Cooper, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Adelyn Hullinger, Stromsburg, Nebraska; Janet Shaw, Akron, Ohio; Juanita Wright, Rich-mondale Ohio; and Charlotte Rosenquist, St. Petersburg, Florida. Two sisters, Izel Tennant and Irene Duncan of Jackson, Ohio; One brother, Hollis L. Landrum of Wheelersburg, Ohio; Sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren *** L he served as Superin tendent of Church School, Treasurer, Teacher of the Young People, and for the past two years, teacher of the Adult class. He was a good teacher, well read and loved by all. He was a devoted husband and father, a power of strength to his family and community. He grew to manhood here in these beautiful hills in Jackson County where he spent most of his life. His home was a pleasant place to go Virgil nd Zelda were privileged to celebrate their fifty years of marriage in February 8, is 1980. A large circle of other relatives and friends mourn his departure. Virgil was a self-employed carpenter , block-layer, and life-tirm., farmer. He had been in poor health for some time bearing his suffering patiently He was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For many years he served as Superin¬tendent of Church School, Treasurer, Teacher of the Young People, and for the past two years, teacher of the Adult class. For giving us a sense of duty and sharing all that we have and are to help make life a beautiful experience. For showing us a quality of long-suffered and perseverance in never giving in to second-best choices by exhibiting the calmness, solidarity, and the strength that comes from total surrender to the purposes of God. For never "giving up" on us when we were so disappointing. . ,but strictly, purposefully, enforcingly, but lovingly-loving us unconditionally. If we can take these treasurers and incorporate them in one big package, We can accomplish any feat set before us, face any foe or hardship regardless of cost, approach life with anticipation and ex-pectancy. .that we, too, "Stepping behind life's curtains; getting a closer view. Stepping out of life's shadows into a purer light. ( Laying aside: life's burdens; done with its tears. Finished are all of earth's labors; tired and ready to go. sleep. Passing out of the shadows into a perfect day. Why do we call it dying -this beautiful passing away. THANKS, DAD! For living a Christ-filled life, For' showing us "The Way," Por the knowledge that we are "special" in the likeness of God. That all things were spiritually created and belong to him, For putting Christ in first priority and insisting that all of his children con-tinually reassess their lives. or the' realization that like you, can say, "I sought the Lord and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears.
