Injured were Donna Gar Larkin, 33, Larry Larkin 36, and Douglas Ronk, 9. Investigative officers said the Larkin car was westbound and swerved to miss two cars stopped to turn, then collided with the eastbound Ronk vehicle, which then struck a car driven by Pauline Correll, 60, of Glenwood. Mrs. Correll was not injured. Services for Virgil Ronk were held Wednesday September 21 at the Emerson United Methodist church. Interment was in the Emerson Cemetery. Information found in the Malvern Leader, Thursday September 22, 1977 Virgil Ronk Funeral services for Virgil Ronk, 64, who died Sept. 18 in a five-car wreck west of Red Oak, were held Sept. 21 at the United Methodist Church in Emerson. Virgil Charles Ronk, the son of Charles and Hannah Ronk, was born Aug. 26, 1913, near Wales. He received his formal education in Mills and Montgomery Counties. His early life was spent farming until 1965, when he moved to Emerson. He worked with the Mills County Department of Roads. On June 25, 1938, he was married to Helen Schipper of Emerson. To this marriage two sons were born, Jerry Allen, who died in infancy, and Larry, who survives. Mr. Ronk was a member of the Emerson United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Crosswhite was in charge of the services. Music for the services was provided by Mrs. Richard Steen, organist. Special selections were "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Ushers were Lowell Hardy and Tom Honeyman. In charge of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. John Barns and Mr. and Mrs. Russell McKee. Casket bearers were Ted Barten, Howard Curry, Dale Dalton, Forrest Johnson, Jim Lundy and Harold Meyer. Interment was held in the Emerson Cemetery.
