Gartner was born at Bladen, Nebraska, on March 6, 1909, to Elmer and Matilda Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Bessie Burkholder, and brother, Glenn Garner. Survivors are his wife, Nila; daughter and son-in-law, Edonis and Owen Dierks of Papillion, Nebraska; three sisters, Helen Jacobson of Kearney, Sadye Fah¬renbruch of Georgetown, Texas and Goldie Bates. of Axtell; one brother, Gerald of Irvine, Califor¬nia; two grandchildren; Barbara Fjeid and husband. Mark, of Salt Lake City, Utah and Steve Fleming and wife, Sue, of Liberty, Missouri and four great grandchildren, Scott, Chad and Kara Fleming and Tanner Fjeld. Services were Friday at the Blue Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Baldeo Singh officiating. Music was furnished by Hattie Jenny and Margaret Armstrong who sang "How Great Thou Art” and "Life's Railway to Heaven”. Marlys Kort was organist. Pallbearers were Kevin Willems, Veldon Nemecek, Wendell Hansen., and Jim Baird. Jerry Koepke and Mark McFarland. Honorary bearers, were Elmer Nemecek, Jack. Gestring, Dr. Frank Kamm, CIaus Goos, Russ Wilems, and Woodson Bentz. Interment was at the Blue Hill Cemetery with arrangements by Merten-Butler Mortuary of Blue Hill.
