Description	:	Virgil E. Kuskie, 90, of Central City died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora. Virgil was born April 3, 1921, on the farm near Central City to William and Laura (Hilderbrand) Kuskie. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Kuskie, who died in March of 2007. Survivors are: son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Jackie Kuskie of Central City; sister-in-law, Daisy Kuskie of Central City; grandchildren, Jasson Kuskie of Keller, Texas, and Jessica Paup of Grand Island; four great-grandchildren, Trysten and Breyanna Kuskie of Keller, Texas, and Ethan and Carter Paup... Virgil was born April 3, 1921, on the farm near Central City to William and Laura (Hilderbrand) Kuskie. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Kuskie, who died in March of 2007. Survivors are: son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Jackie Kuskie of Central City; sister-in-law, Daisy Kuskie of Central City; grandchildren, Jasson Kuskie of Keller, Texas, and Jessica Paup of Grand Island; four great-grandchildren, Trysten and Breyanna Kuskie of Keller, Texas, and Ethan and Carter Paup of Grand Island. Virgil grew up in Merrick County and attended a country school outside of Central City. He entered the United States Army on July 3, 1942 and was honorably discharged on July 11, 1943. He was united in marriage to Maxine E. Peters on May 2, 1942, in Hastings. The couple lived on a farm near Central City. Virgil farmed his entire life and semi-retired in 1985, although he still worked with cattle. Virgil was a member of United Methodist church and the American Legion Lone Tree Post 6. He enjoyed traveling and going on trips with his wife, Maxine. Virgil was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elsmer and George Kuskie, and two sisters, Marge and Donna. Burial was in the Central City Cemetery, Central City, NE. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Lone Tree Post 6 of Central City.
