Virgil was born on December 1, 1941 in Campbell County, Tennessee to the late William and Lizzie Bailey Green. Virgil was a deacon at the Laurel Grove Baptist Church in Briceville for many years. He loved... Read More	Virgil Edward Green, age 68 of Lake City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Virgil was born on December 1, 1941 in Campbell County, Tennessee to the late William and Lizzie Bailey Green. Virgil was a deacon at the Laurel Grove Baptist Church in Briceville for many years. He was a retired United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant after 20 years of service and two tours of duty in Vietnam. Virgil was also a member and past master of the Briceville Crystal Lodge #616. He loved nothing more than to be working outdoors or spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. Virgil is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Green; mother and father in law, Rubin and Lucille Fox; brother in law,Eddie Fox.He is survived by Wife of 45 years Linda Green of Lake City Daughter Sonya Bullock and husband Tony of Lake City Brothers Charlie Green and wife Mary Lou of BricevilleSister Beulah Byrum of Oak RidgeGranddaughters Kristina Phillips of Clinton and Ashton Bullock of Lake CitySpecial Cousin Junior Bailey of BricevilleLifelong Friends Ed and Trish Jones of Jacksonville, NC Tom Jarvis of Okinawa, Japan Special Friends and Deacons at Laurel Grove Baptist Church WC Harness, Audrey Goins, Joe Harness and the late James Hooks The family will receive friends at the Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 5-8PM with the funeral service to follow at 8:00PM with the Rev. David White and Audrey Goins officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10:15AM and go in funeral procession to the Laurel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Briceville for an 11:00AM graveside service with full military honors by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
