Redmond will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the Carl Furstenau home and at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church with Rev. Soul Miller in charge. Burial will be made at Pebble cemetery with the Jay Wormwood post of the American Legion in charge. Mr. Redmond died at the Woodman hospital at Woodman, Colo. Tuesday evening. Mrs. Redmond was at his bedside when he died. He was born at Hartford, S.D., on April 3, 1894. Soon after he moved with his parents to Omaha where he grew to manhood. He enlisted in the U.S. service and shortly after was sent overseas where he remained for two years. For a year he drove a truck hauling supplies to the front lines and remained another year with the army of occupation. Upon his return to America he took up weatherstripping as an occupation and worked at the trade until he built and operated a filling station in Scribner. He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Furstenau of Scribner August 31, 1927 and since that date had made Scribner his home. He was a member of the Congregational church and Modern Woodmen of America besides being active in the American Legion activities. Besides his wife he is survived by one brother, Vilas Redmond of Los Angeles, Calif. Fremont Daily Tribune April 23, 1937 Virgil Redmond was born VIRGIL LEE BIRUM to Verna Alba Birum and Mary Becker in Minnehaha County, South Dakota.
