Cremation will follow the services with committal later in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia. He was born June 7, 1933 at Falls City, Neb., the son of Everett and Daisy (Simpson) Steinhauer. He graduated from Falls City, NE High School and served in the Air Force from Oct. 1, 1952 to Sept. 1956. He was in the Korean Conflict although he served his time in Germany, France, Italy and was in Germany during the Berlin Air Lift. He had lived at Rosalia for the past 50 years, and had worked as an insurance agent for National Life & Accident and also at McClure Waggy Ford. For the past number of years, he was supervisor of transportation for USD 492, Rosalia. Virgil loved sports, football, basketball, baseball at both Rosalia and Butler Community College. He could fix anything and always said if I can take it apart, I can put it back together. He was a member of Rosalia United Methodist Church. On Oct. 7, 1956, Virgil and Jeannine Pletcher were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Rosalia. Those he leaves including his wife of the home are a daughter, Linda Steinhauer Barker and spouse Troy of Hamilton; a son, Lee Steinhauer and spouse Michele of Rosalia; brother, E. E. (Gene) Steinhauer and spouse Pat of Hazelwood, Mo.; a sister, Shirley Gray and spouse Lyle of Leon; four grandsons, Joshua Barker of Lawrence, Logan Barker of Hamilton and Dylan Steinhauer and Shane Steinhauer, both of Rosalia; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorials in his memory for Flinthills High School General Scholarship Fund or Good Shepherd Hospice may be left with Carlson Funeral Home where friends may call.
