Description	:	Virgil "Bud" Lowell Bowser, 91, of the Hiawatha Care Center died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the care center following a long illness. Virgil was born April 12, 1917 in Cedar Rapids the son of Heald and Laura Klopp Bowser. Virgil married Eleanor M. Lochner on February 4, 1938 in Marion. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends last winter. Virgil was employed by La Plante Choate, then Allis Chalmers, and later with Harnischfeger for 30 years. Virgil was born April 12, 1917 in Cedar Rapids the son of Heald and Laura Klopp Bowser. Virgil married Eleanor M. Lochner on February 4, 1938 in Marion. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends last winter. Virgil was employed by La Plante Choate, then Allis Chalmers, and later with Harnischfeger for 30 years. After retirement he sold real estate for many years for Century 21 of Marion. Virgil also farmed in the Springville area for many years. Virgil enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing and was a member of the Hiawatha Camping Group where he enjoyed the companionship of many friends. Virgil was a member of Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge #263 AF & AM and the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marion, was school board president of the Springville Schools when his children were attending school and was selected for the Job Corps Committee by then Governor Hughes. Virgil was a kind and generous man who enjoyed his family and would do anything to ensure his family's happiness. He will be remembered fondly for all the memories he has given them. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Keystone Cedars Assisted Living and Hiawatha Care Center for their care and concern for Virgil. Surviving are his wife Eleanor are a daughter, Janice Gilmour Jack of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Gordon Bowser Diana Lynn of Marion, David Bowser Linda of Marion and Michael Bowser Mary of Morrow, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Barbara; a grandson Michael McGrew; and three sisters. Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Julie Anderson will officiate.
