He was born in Boone on June 30, 1912 to Patrick William and Sarah Letitia (Godwin) Lyons. He married Charlotte Parks at the rectory of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone on June 9, 1945. He was born in Boone on June 30, 1912 to Patrick William and Sarah Letitia (Godwin) Lyons. He married Charlotte Parks at the rectory of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone on June 9, 1945. Virgil started Dodge Township #7 rural school in 1918 and attended until 8th grade in 1926. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1930. He farmed in Dodge Township until his retirement in 1977 (part of the land owned by his grandfather, Patrick Lyons). He was a member of the Boone County Farm Bureau, A.A.R.P., Golden Agers of his church, and Knights of Columbus Leo Council #814. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kathleen, two sisters, Mary Beatrice McHugh, Blanche Thurman, and a brother, Glenn F. Lyons. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Boone; two sons, Don of Boone and Pat of Milford; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Randy Patterson of Boone; grandchildren (Steve, Sheri, and Brad Lyons and Charlene, Marcy and Janelle Patterson) and two great grandchildren (Tyler and Logan Lyons).
