He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Jane in 2008, two brothers, Darrell and Maynard and a son-in-law, Doug Mikel. Virgil Rex Heishman was born August 24, 1933 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of Delmar and Margaret Ostrom Heishman. He graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Smith, Arkansas. He married Mary Jane Goodrich on February 24, 1962 in Nebraska. He was a lifelong farmer in the Brooklyn area. Virgil enjoyed bowling, antiques and TV westerns. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family and his dog Buddy, and socializing with his many friends. Source: Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, IA
