Description	:	Virgil Steve Kozik, 90, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, died on February 13, 2022, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care. Virgil was born on October 25, 1931, the son of Stephen J and Theresa "Tracy" (Posekany) Kozik at the family home in rural Benton County, Iowa. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, Class of 1950. Following school, he continued to work alongside his family on the farm. Virgil was born on October 25, 1931, the son of Stephen J and Theresa "Tracy" (Posekany) Kozik at the family home in rural Benton County, Iowa. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, Class of 1950. Following school, he continued to work alongside his family on the farm. Together with his father, uncle Jim, and brother Don, they began the Kozik Brothers partnership, raising Hereford Cattle, Duroc Hogs, and growing crops. Virgil led a quiet and peaceful life, watching the calves during caving season, taking country drives to admire the scenery, sitting out in his lawn chair enjoying the fresh country air and stopping by Casey's for his coffee and plain donut. He also liked visiting and eating out with friends. Virgil will always be remembered as a kind and caring man with a mischievous smirk. He was member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Barbara Burg, Mark (Abbie) Kozik, Mary Pech, Jane (Tim) Balvanz, Gregory (Elizabeth) Pech, Richard (Sandra) Pech, Sherri (KC) Swearengin, Doug (Linda) Kozik and Janet (Doug) Johnson; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and friends. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard and Donald; and sister, Alma Pech. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, with Father Michael McAndrew and Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Burial in St. Josephs Cemetery, Chelsea, Iowa.
