My great grandfather, Thomas Harvey sold his land to his brother , John Richard Harvey when he moved up to Bethlehem and started the "white dirt factory" KAOLIN. The deed was never recorded and when John Richard Harvey died he had left the property to his son, Jackson Harvey and Cousin Jackson went to Lovingston and the "deed was not of record", and my g-grandfather had married after his first wife died, Betty Sue Vaughan and she had to sign away any dower rights and they had to make a deed as though it was being sold in 1907, I think instead of 1879. I told a woman from Albemarle who was in the Court House and she went home told the story to her daughter, and her daughter looked up her property and neither had that been recorded, so she had to also have a deed drawn up!!! and pay a lawyer and have it recorded. Thank you to LNM who has put the Family buried in the graveyard on the property once belonging to my g-grandfather, Thomas Harvey who md. Mary Catherine Saunders, a daughter of Richard Saunders and Mary Ann Jones. My mother's A. Daisy Love Bowles md.
