An 11:00 a.m. graveside service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021, at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Paul Sisk officiating. A Rockingham County native, Virginia was born on July 10, 1935, to the late Charlie and Lillie Mae Chapman Bolen. She attended Westside Baptist Church and loved teaching people about Jesus's love for them. Manuel, 85, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at her home. An 11:00 a.m. graveside service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021, at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Paul Sisk officiating. A Rockingham County native, Virginia was born on July 10, 1935, to the late Charlie and Lillie Mae Chapman Bolen. She attended Westside Baptist Church and loved teaching people about Jesus's love for them. She taught special needs children in Rockingham County schools for over 32 years and worked as a nurse at Britthaven. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympic Games, winning gold seven times in swimming, putt-putt, and Bocce. Virginia was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her family, loved the Duke Blue Devils, and would always help someone in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis Manuel; her daughter, Rhonda Sue Duncan; her sister, Lois Lancaster; and her brother-in-law, Marion Ray Lancaster. She is survived by her children, Ricky Ward of Mayodan, Randy Ward (Cathy) of Madison, Fay Manuel of Winston Salem, Rod Manuel of Mayodan, and Rueann Manuel of Burlington; her sisters, Shirley Watson and Florence Bolen both of Mayodan, Kay Davis (Jerry) of Eden; her brother, Bobby Bolen (Barbara) of Stoneville; her grandchildren, Katie Sue Duncan (Brad Simmons), Hunter Duncan, and Dereck Ward; Step-grandson, Keelan Murray; and great-grandchildren, Ivory Simmons, Laila Simmons, and one baby on the way. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics, Attn: Web Gifts, 1133 19th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC 20036 or to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O.
