Description	:	Virginia Ellen Troutman, 96, of Farmington, Iowa, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at her home in Farmington, Iowa. She was born July 5, 1921, at Bonaparte, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Harley Proper and Clara Hermina Johnson Proper. She married Lloyd George Troutman, April 29, 1939, at Palmyra, Missouri. Read More	Virginia Ellen Troutman, 96, of Farmington, Iowa, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at her home in Farmington, Iowa. She was born July 5, 1921, at Bonaparte, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Harley Proper and Clara Hermina Johnson Proper. She married Lloyd George Troutman, April 29, 1939, at Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death. Virginia lived in San Diego, California and Fremont, Nebraska before moving to Bonaparte, Iowa where she lived for most of her adult life. She worked as an inspector at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and co-owned and operated the Troutman Grocery Store in Bonaparte for 20 years. In her spare time, she loved to do crossword puzzles and play cards with family and friends. She collected lighthouse figurines and items adorned with dragonflies. She was also a great cook, and made the best rhubarb pies and cobblers around. Virginia also loved animals, and had several Yorkshire Terriers over the years. In her later years, she adopted a stray cat and sat on the porch with it every afternoon. She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Lee McIntosh of Farmington, Iowa; Marcia Ann Hendrichsen of Stuart, Florida; Deborah Mae Levens of San Dimas, California; and Alicia Kay Garnett of Beatrice, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Carl Proper, and Donald Harley Proper; and two sisters, Irene Burns, and Wannabelle Mosier. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Worthy Fletcher Proper; and one sister, Dorothy Iris Morgan.
