Description	:	Virginia "Ginny" Brannan, 61, of Ames and formerly of Boone, died February 28, 2013, in Boone. Ginny was born December 24, 1951, to Carl Joseph and Barbara Grace (Gill) Conway in Carroll. Ginny was baptized Catholic and attended St. Peter and Paul/Holy Spirit grade school and graduated from Carroll High School in 1970. She was married to Maj. Joseph F. Brannan Jr. of the Iowa Army National Guard. Ginny loved her family and loved her work. She had been at the Ames Tribune since March 1998 in the accounts receivable department. Ginny was born December 24, 1951, to Carl Joseph and Barbara Grace (Gill) Conway in Carroll. Ginny was baptized Catholic and attended St. Peter and Paul/Holy Spirit grade school and graduated from Carroll High School in 1970. She was married to Maj. Joseph F. Brannan Jr. of the Iowa Army National Guard. Ginny loved her family and loved her work. She had been at the Ames Tribune since March 1998 in the accounts receivable department. She enjoyed a good mystery by book or movie. Ginny also loved vegetable gardening, canning her produce, making orange marmalade, and growing roses. She loved cooking for her family, especially chicken and noodles. During her life, she was active as secretary/treasurer of the Iowa National Guard Officer's Wives Auxiliary, served various offices in Beta Sigma Phi in Boone for many years, and also served on the Sacred Heart Parish Council and also as secretary, treasurer, and president of the Sacred Heart Home and School. She also loved reading to her daughter Beth and her classmates at Sacred Heart in the lower grades and chaperoning on school trips. When granddaughter Joaquin was in elementary school, Ginny also read to her classmates, too. She even donated the books to the school. Ginny moved to Ames in 2006 to escape the horrible drive in ice and snow. She carries with her many fond memories. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann Brannan (Zach Fox) and granddaughter, Joaquin Brannan of Boone; sisters, Ruth (Dave) Schroeder, of Council Bluffs, and Jane Peoples of Boone; brother, Mike (Kim) Conway, of Hartley, Iowa; nephews, Michael David Kroger of Carroll, Matthew (Steffany) Kroger of Pocatello, Idaho, Christopher Peoples of Boone, and Josh (Caley) Schroeder of Council Bluffs; niece Jill Schroeder of Omaha, Nebraska; two step-daughters Tamera Beaman of Boone and Dawn Renze of Carroll; and her extended family, the people at the Ames Tribune that she worked with over the last 14-some years. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Brannan; her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Myron Kroeger of Lidderdale. Following her wishes, her body has been cremated. A Memorial Mass will be at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Burial of her cremains will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.
