She was born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Luther and Lillian Sims Thompson and was a member of the Daventon Baptist Church. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. Survivors include sister, Dorothy Cooper of Fountain Inn, SC; brother Kenneth Thompson of Ware Shoals, SC; foster son who was raised in her home, Steven Gagnon of Honea Path, SC.
