Description	:	GREENSBORO — Virginia Graham Lewis, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, following a short illness at Wesley Long Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at the Graham Family Site in the Hollywood Cemetery on North Bridge Street, Elkin. Dr. Tom Herrin will officiate. Virginia, the beloved wife of the late Hal Barker Lewis, to whom she was married for 51 years, was born on March 1, 1927, in Elkin, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Worth Austin Graham. Virginia quietly and lovingly supported her church, College Place United Methodist Church, for more than 50 years as a librarian and Sunday School teacher. A former elementary school teacher at Brooks Elementary, Burlington School System, and the Laramie, Wyoming school system, she graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., in 1948. Virginia volunteered for a number of years in the Adult Literacy Program, teaching adults to read. She spent her life serving the Lord, her family and friends with acts of loving kindness. She was preceded in death by her son, Hal Worth Lewis, of Greensboro, and her brother, the late Worth Austin Graham Jr., formerly of San Francisco, California. Remaining to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Alison Lewis Fairchild and husband, Larry Kevin Fairchild of Asheboro, and Sarah Vail and husband, Timothy Cowling, of Oberlin, Ohio; her grandchildren, Crystal Earley, Mary and Andrew Mathews, Michael Lewis, Lindsey, Thomas, and Daniel Cowling; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alexandria, Mallorie, Hannah and little Stuart.
