Virginia, daughter of Ralph Rohr and Iva Ione Funk, was born December 12, 1930 in Gladstone, North Dakota. She graduated from Regent High School in 1947 and attended MacPhail's School of Music in Minneapolis. Following this, she taught in a one-room school house out of Taylor, North Dakota. Virginia, daughter of Ralph Rohr and Iva Ione Funk, was born December 12, 1930 in Gladstone, North Dakota. Virginia was united in marriage to Robert (Bud) Remington of Mott on February 3, 1951 in Hettinger. Born to their marriage were six daughters, Dawn (Roy) Magden of Puyallup, WA; Dacotah Remington of Puyallup; Dee Anne (Sean) Lynch of Bolingbrook, Ill; Cindy Remington of Renton, WA; Gwen Remington of Casper, WY; and Charity Duke of Sumner, WA; and two sons, Carter Remington of Darrington, WA and Barney Remington of El Mirage, AZ. From these eight children, Virginia and Bud were blessed with thirteen grandchildren; Megan (Damon) Postle, Charlotte, NC; Rhiannon Morton, Pacifica, CA; Nissa Morton, San Diego, CA; Matthew Morton, San Diego, CA; Michael Lynch, Minneapolis, MN; Caroline Lynch, Bolingbrook, Ill; Steve Wolf, Bellingham, WA; Jared (Stephanie) Wolf, Canada; Adam (Cassie) Wolf of Boulder, CO; Jenny Orlowski, Cheyenne, WY; William (Love) Remington, Puyallup, WA; Casey Duke, Sumner, WA; and Lacey Murphy, Tacoma, WA. An additional special blessing charmed Virginia's life – her great grandson, Jayden Remington of Puyallup, WA. In addition to her children and grandchildren and great-grandchild, Virginia leaves behind three brothers; Ralph (Corlie) Rohr, King City, OR; Dale Rohr, Roosevelt, UT; and Kenny Rohr, Detroit, MI and many, many nieces and nephews, all with special places in her heart. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents; her sisters; Ramona James and Ardith Vozabal. Virginia realized a lifelong dream of returning to college and achieving her Bachelor's degree from University of North Dakota at age 55 in English Literature. She wrote short stories and rendered many paintings with subjects taken from the many locations the family lived (Chula Vista, CA; El Paso, TX; Harlingen, TX; Sunburst, MT; Taylor, MI; Eastport, ID; Kailua, HA; Long Beach, CA; Burlington, VT and Grand Forks, ND) during Bud's years with the Immigration Service and Border Patrol. Virginia's passion for cooking resulted in the preparation of a family cookbook, which all family members and friends utilize and will continue to benefit the family in generations to come. She will also be remembered for her volunteer work teaching English as a Second Language student, as well as various projects with the Friends of the Sumner Library, the General Federation of Women's Clubs – Valley Volunteers, and St Andrew Altar Society. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at St Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner, WA with Fr. Jack Shrum officiating. A Graveside Service at Hettinger Cemetery in Hettinger, ND at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2012, officiated by Fr. Joseph Chipson will lay Virginia to rest next to her husband, Bud, who preceded her in death by 16 years.
