Description	:	Virginia Kathleen Wade, 77, a long-time Hillsville resident and retired teacher, died Wednesday, December 23, 1992, at Eldercare Nursing Home where she had been in declining health for some time. Mrs. Cruise was born July 13, 1915, in Gate City, Va. She was a daughter of the late W. H. Wade and Bennie Reames Wade of Hillsville, and was the widow of former Hillsville Councilman Oscar H. Cruise. Mrs. Cruise received a bachelor of science degree in education from Radford University, and did postgraduate work at the University of Virginia. Mrs. Cruise was born July 13, 1915, in Gate City, Va. She was a daughter of the late W. H. Wade and Bennie Reames Wade of Hillsville, and was the widow of former Hillsville Councilman Oscar H. Cruise. Mrs. Cruise received a bachelor of science degree in education from Radford University, and did postgraduate work at the University of Virginia. In 1935, Mrs. Cruise began a teaching career in the Carroll County Schools that spanned 42 years. She taught at Laurel Fork, Sunnyside, Fairview, Coltrane, Mt. Tabor, Hillsville Elementary and Hillsville Intermediate. She retired from Hillsville Intermediate in 1977. Mrs. Cruise is survived by three sisters, Linda McGuire of Hillsville, Betty Mabry of Pembroke, Helen Barnes of Reidsville, N.C.; four brothers, William Wade and Waverly Wade, both of Hillsville, Jack Wade of Cana, Grady Wade of McLean, Va.; and eleven nieces, Dreama Lintecum Kennon of Reidsville, N.C., Mary Mabry Farris of Evington, Va., Donna Mabry Flinchum of Pearisburg, Shirley Mabry Gentry of Christiansburg, Carolyn Wade Melton and Cathy Wade Lawson, both of Wytheville, Sharon Wade Koenigsmann of Sanford, Fla., Nancy Wade Russell of Woodlawn, Jeanie McGuire Schoonover of Baumholder, Germany, and Delanya McGuire Tate of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are five nephews, Michael Frazier of Fancy Gap, Va., Marion Wade and Barry Wade, both of Hillsville, Richard Lintecum and Anthony Barnes of Reidsville, N.C.; and her care giver, Debbie Frazier of Fancy Gap, Va. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 27, 1992, at 1:30 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel conducted by the Rev. Nathan Malone and the Rev. James Carpenter. Interment will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville, Va.
