Description	:	Virginia Kirby Evans, 81, widow of Joseph W. Evans, Sr., died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at her daughter's residence. Graveside funeral services, directed by Graham Funeral Home will be held Monday, May 22, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Benji Wham. Evans, Sr., died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at her daughter's residence. Graveside funeral services, directed by Graham Funeral Home will be held Monday, May 22, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Benji Wham. She was born June 15, 1924 in Cowards, SC, a daughter of the late Cleveland "Cleve" Kirby and the late Annie Tedder Kirby. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. She attended Georgetown Community Church and was married to the late Joseph W. Evans, Sr. They made their home in Sumter, SC until 1957 when they moved to Georgetown. Surviving are; two daughters, Donna J. Evans of Georgetown, and Virginia "Jenny" E. Altman and her husband Bennett Wayne Altman of Georgetown; one son, Joseph "Jody" Wesley Evans, Jr. of Trenton, TN; Two sisters, Thadgelene Strickland of Georgetown, and Margaret Watts of Eatonton, GA; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great–grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by; two brothers, Bryant and E. H. Kirby; and one sister, Lila Mae Norwood. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
