(Long) Lowe of Chapman, Kansas, on August 30, 1922. She lived in the country near Chapman during her growing up years, attending Moonlight and Chapman Schools, graduating from DCCHS. She was 93 years of age.Virginia was born to Earl A. and Sarah E. (Long) Lowe of Chapman, Kansas, on August 30, 1922. She lived in the country near Chapman during her growing up years, attending Moonlight and Chapman Schools, graduating from DCCHS. Virginia attended one year of post grad and one year of college, receiving her teaching certificate. She taught four years in two rural schools in Dickinson County. Virginia L. and Robert S. Curran were married on May 20, 1945. They resided in Enterprise and Abilene for their entire married life. Virginia worked part-time as postal clerk in Enterprise then part time at the Dickinson County Bank in Enterprise before going to full time. She continued to work at the bank until retirement. After her retirement, she worked part-time as a receptionist for C.E. Enterprises.Virginia was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church’s Women’s Groups and held various offices over the years. She was also a member of the Double Dozen Homemakers Extension Unit. Virginia served as a volunteer at the Abilene Memorial Hospital and the Dickinson County Historical Society for several years following her retirement! Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death in April, 2003.Virginia is survived by brother-in-law Delmar Curran; sister-in-law Mary Lou (Curran) Freeman and Delores (Curran) Karmann, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She was preceded in death by her father, Earl and her mother, Sarah, and her sisters Kathleen (Lowe) Strauss, and Evelyn (Lowe) Nichols, her niece, Diane Mills, along with brother and sister-in laws.Services will be held at Martin-Becker-Carlson Chapel on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Amy Truhe officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to The Arthritis Foundation or Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice in Virginia’s name.
