"Gin" Gross, 86, of Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, formerly of Sunset Park Place, Dubuque, and Cascade, died at 1:56 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel J. Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. She attended St. Mary's School, Cascade. She was married to Leo "Buck" Gross on Dec. 27, 1947, by Fr. Bill Menster; he preceded her in death on April 4, 1982. Virginia was employed at the Cascade Telephone Co. as an operator and also owned and operated the former Gross Cafe in Cascade from 1948 to 1961. She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish in Dubuque, Iowa. Surviving are three children, Barbara Gross, of Davenport, David (Norma) Gross and Terry (Debbie) Gross, both of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Emily (Dave) Bloom, Jay Gross, Kate (Tommy) Lange, Megan Gross and Stone Ridge; three sisters, Leona Behel, of Worthington, Carol Cigrand, of Cascade, and Doris (Carl "Chick") Neiers, of Guttenberg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis "Skip" Manternach, of Cascade, Albert (Phyllis) Gross, of Cascade, Frank (Kathleen) Gross, of Farmington, N.M., Pete Gross, of Denver, Colo., Grace Cigrand, Veronia Gross and Ella Gross, all of Cascade. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Manternach; a brother, Robert E. Cigrand; brothers-in-law, Rawson Behel, Louis, John, Wilfred, Robert, Ed and George Gross; and sisters-in-law, Cecelia Gross, Margaret Gross and Ramona Gross.
