Description	:	Virginia Hopper Steele, being the first born of eleven children, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale, NC. During her life she served with many groups including the Girl Scout and the Y.W.C.A. where she was chosen to be the speaker for the Organization's Defense Defense by the New York office at their National Meeting in Chicago. Her first love was for the Lord and His church, having a dramatic encounter with the Lord, Jesus Christ, when she was 28 years old. She served as chairperson for almost every work area in the church. She was a... Read More	Virginia Hopper Steele, being the first born of eleven children, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale, NC. Her first love was for the Lord and His church, having a dramatic encounter with the Lord, Jesus Christ, when she was 28 years old. She served as chairperson for almost every work area in the church. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church. She attend Rockingham County Public Schools and went to business school in Spokane, WA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Friday, at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Madison United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Halipilias officiating. Interment will follow in Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph Bernard Steele; parents, James Archer Hopper and Dossie Elizabeth Pyrtle Hopper; brothers, Paul Franklin Hopper, Dewey Lee Hopper and Monroe Archer Hopper; and brothers-in-law, Dorsey Currin and Arthur Pearson. Survivors include brothers, Will R. Hopper and wife, Peggy, Claude D. Hopper and wife Connie, B. Wayne Hopper and wife, Shirely, Richard D. Hopper and wife, Shirley, and Steve D. Hopper and wife, Pat; sisters, Octola H. Currin and Catherine H. Pearson; 31 nieces and nephews, 51 great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews. Colonial Funeral Home is serving the family and provided this information.
