She died August 12, 2016 after an extended illness at the Toni & Trish House in Auburn, Michigan. Virginia spent most of her life in Pinconning, Michigan. Read More	Virginia was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 24, 1930 to the late Lawrence and Inez (Horn) Wilson. She died August 12, 2016 after an extended illness at the Toni & Trish House in Auburn, Michigan. Virginia spent most of her life in Pinconning, Michigan. After graduating from Pinconning High School as salutatorian, she attended Michigan State University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1953. She worked as a chemist for the Dow Chemical Company for six years where she met her future husband. She was married on June 22, 1957 to Merton Peacock who preceded her in death. They were married for 50 years. From Midland she returned to Pinconning where with her husband, they were the owners of Wilson’s Cheese Shoppe until their retirement. She was very active in the Pinconning community having served on the Pinconning Area Chamber of Commerce Board and the Pinconning Area Schools Board of Education serving as secretary and president. She was named Citizen of the Year in 1982, served on the Board of Christian Education at St. John’s Lutheran Church and on the Northeast Michigan Art Council and belonged to both the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. Her commitment to her daughters and all girls in her community shone brightest in her volunteer work with the Mitten Bay Girl Scout Council. Virginia volunteered for over 35 years. Her roles included Troop Leader, Day Camp Director, Service Unit Director, Trainer, Board of Directors, Annual Meeting Chair, Association Chair, and Delegate to the National Council. She was honored by the Girl Scouts with the service and appreciation pins and the Thanks and Thanks II badges. She was honored in the first class of Women of Distinction in 1995. As active as Virginia was in her community her main priority was family and she excelled in her roles as daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by 2 daughters in Midland, Marilyn (Dan) Sturtz and Wendy (Bob) Cooper; 4 grandchildren: Dana (Jennifer) Peacock, Sarah Cooper, Laura (Joe) Clair, and Emily (Chris) Waha; 2 great-grandchildren, Lily and Willow Peacock; and 3 aunts, Betty Lane, Doris (Vince) Yaklin and Donna Horn; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home in Pinconning with Pastor Rev. David Jung presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 p.m. until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Toni & Trish House in Auburn or the Midland County Humane Society.
