Death was due to first, second, and third degree burns over the entire front of her body and shock. Kerosene thrown into a cook-stove to inflame a breakfast fire exploded and ignited her clothing. Her husband was less seriously burned about the hands, arms and face, beating out his wife Jennie's burning garments before the couple aroused seven of their ten children at home and conducted them to safety. Mrs. Fowler collapsed in snow outside the gutted residence on the Shackelford farm, after the children were safe and the oldest son ran a mile and a half to phone for help. The burned couple was given first aid at a physician's office in Beallsville before she was taken to the hospital. The body rests at the funeral home in Barnesville. Funeral arrangements are to be announced. William B. Hilton, funeral director in charge.
