Mrs. Delatte was born in Georgetown, South Carolina, a daughter of Patrick Cleburn McClary Jr. and Virginia Kirkland Orvin McClary Krause Lesesne. She graduated from Winyah High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in education from Winthrop College (now University) and a Master's degree in Guidance and Personnel Service from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Read More	Virginia McClary Delatte, 88, died Monday, June 4, 2016, at Tidelands Community Hospice House following an illness. Mrs. Delatte was born in Georgetown, South Carolina, a daughter of Patrick Cleburn McClary Jr. and Virginia Kirkland Orvin McClary Krause Lesesne. She graduated from Winyah High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in education from Winthrop College (now University) and a Master's degree in Guidance and Personnel Service from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She also earned three fellowships and took courses at the University of South Carolina, the University of Maryland – Overseas, and Johns Hopkins University. Mrs. Delatte spent over twenty years as an educator for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in France, Germany, and Italy. She also taught for 12 ½ years in South Carolina, in Fairfax, Summerville, Columbia, and Georgetown. As a teacher, she nurtured the love of learning in generations of students. Mrs. Delatte was predeceased by her husband of almost 45 years, Norbert Joseph Delatte. She is survived by two brothers, Patrick Cleburn (Deanna) McClary III, and Albert (Phyllis) Krause Jr.; two sisters, Patricia M. (William H.) Barron and Dorothy Spiegelberg; her children, Norbert Joseph (M. Lynn) Delatte Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Patrick McClary (Kimberly Susan) Delatte of Burke, Virginia, and Justin Paul (Denise) Delatte of Georgetown; and grandchildren, Blair, Patrick, Lindsey, Isabella, Rachel, Joe (Norbert III), Mark Anthony, Angela, and Hannah, and great-grandmother to Breña, Cillian, Adrian, Patrick, and Jackson. Mrs. Delatte was a lifelong member and an Elder of Georgetown Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for many years. In 2002, she became the third generation of the family to receive an Honorary Life Membership of Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and served as chaplain for both. Burial services, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, were Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Elmwood Cemetery. A Memorial service at followed in Georgetown Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Stephen H. Wilkins and the Rev. Dr. William H. Puckett Jr. officiated.
