Read More	Virginia Cobb February 19, 1921 - January 24, 2017 Obituary for Virginia Cobb Virginia Ruth (Couchman) Cobb, 95, passed away on January 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, at Addington Place Assisted Living in Prairie Village, KS. Virginia was born on February 19, 1921 to Leo and Blanche Couchman on the farm home in Sewal, Iowa. She grew up with her parents and two siblings, Joanne and Delbert, and attended Sewal Consolidated School. She always felt that the best gift she ever received was a good education. Virginia married J Bradlee Cobb on April 10, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Corydon, Iowa. To this union was born one son, Terry Bradlee Cobb. Virginia worked as a school secretary in Allerton and Corydon from 1955 – 1981. She was a member of the Allerton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, a 60 year member of PEO Chapter EU, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and active in many other community organizations. She moved to Mason City, Iowa in 2000, to Clear Lake, Iowa in 2010, and to Prairie Village, KS in 2014 to be closer to her family. Virginia was awarded the Governor’s Volunteer Award by Governor Terry Branstad in 1998 which honors and recognizes those committed to making communities a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Virginia is survived by her son Terry and his wife Pam, granddaughters Kelli (Sean) Wilson and Julie (Scott) Shisler, four great-grandchildren Peter and Peri Wilson and Ben and Kate Shisler, sister Joanne (Larry) Sutter, nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Blanche Couchman, husband J Bradlee Cobb, brother Delbert Couchman, nephew David Couchman, and sisters-in-law Rachel (Cobb) Porter and Melva Couchman. Virginia will always be remembered for her kindness, her strong faith in God and love of her family. She so enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters Kelli and Julie and their children. She was dearly loved and will be forever missed. A memorial graveside service will be held on May 23rd starting at 12:00 noon at the Allerton Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Allerton Civic Center.
