Description	:	Vivian Wubben, 93, of Sioux Falls passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Bethany Home in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 17 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will begin at 2 pm with a 7 pm prayer service also at the funeral home. Family will be present a half hour prior to the prayer service. Vivian Anna Yaksha, daughter of Matt and Waty (Stoddard) Yaksha, was born north of Plankinton, SD on April 12, 1920. She spent her early years in Aurora County but in 1926 her widowed mother moved her family to Miller, SD where she worked at the hospital as a trained nurse. Vivian attended Hand County schools and was a graduate of Ree Heights High School. In order to attend high school in town during the Great Depression, she babysat for local families in return for her room and board. She received her R.N. from Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing in Mitchell, SD where her favorite fields of care were pediatrics, surgery, and physio-therapy. During WWII, she was a floor supervisor and instructor at St. Joseph’s. Prior to her marriage, she, also, worked at hospitals in Hot Springs, SD, Sacramento, CA, and Wyandotte, MI. On February 9, 1949 she married H.O. Wubben in the Congregational Church in Mitchell, SD where she was a member. They farmed northeast of Spencer, SD for forty-seven years. During the 1950’s/60’s Vivian helped with the local polio shot clinics and always assisted family and neighbors when called upon. She was a member of Esther Circle at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canova, SD where she enjoyed quilting. She, also, enjoyed gardening, attending the annual St. Joseph Alumni banquet with friends, walking, and stargazing. Having grown up during the “dirty thirties”, she could “make something out of nothing” and was an avid recycler long before it became a popular movement. After retiring from farm life in 1999, Vivian moved to Waterford (Touchmark) at All Saints in Sioux Falls, SD where she lived independently for ten years. During these years, she was a very involved participant in the many activities and events at Waterford and, also, enjoyed visiting Falls Park and attending First Congregational Church. In 2009 Vivian moved to an assisted living floor and in 2012 she moved to Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home in Sioux Falls where she resided for one year. She was predeceased by her husband, two brothers: Ivan Yaksha and Robert Orre, and one sister, Wilma Mann. Vivian is survived by one daughter, Marge Thury, (Denny) Parker, CO and two sons, Harley R. Wubben, (Connie) Salem, SD and Jon Y. Wubben (Peggy) Spencer, SD; five grandchildren: Liza Heidelberger, (Aaron) Sioux Falls, Justin Wubben, (Stephanie) Sioux Falls, Kelly Nelson, (Eric) Brandon, Jennifer Wubben, (Tate) Spearfish, SD, and Stacey Wubben, Vermillion, SD. Four great-grandchildren knew her as “G.G.”: Cole and Kayla Heidelberger, Aiden Wubben, and Hallie Hayford. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Swenson, (Dale) Phoenix, AZ and four nieces and three nephews.
