Melton and daughter of the late John Rhett Davis and the late Ethel Peeler Davis Wright and stepdaughter of the late Arthur Wright. Read More	Vivian Davis Melton January 11, 1930 - January 18, 2022 Vivian Davis Melton, 92, of Gaffney, S.C., died Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. A native of Ninety-Nine Island (Blacksburg, .C.), she was the widow of the late Carl F. Melton and daughter of the late John Rhett Davis and the late Ethel Peeler Davis Wright and stepdaughter of the late Arthur Wright. Mrs. Melton held administrative positions at Gaffney Manufacturing Company (Milliken), the Gaffney Day School, and the YMCA. She was a lifelong member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Sherry Mesimer and husband, Dale, of North Wilkesboro, N.C. and Sandy Melton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son, Rhett Melton and wife, Grenelda "Geny" of Gastonia, N.C.; four grandchildren, Daniel Mesimer, Eric Mesimer, Justin Melton and Tyler Melton; four great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Wright Turner of Gaffney, S.C.; and two brothers, Michael Wright and wife, Donna, of Charlotte, N.C. and Benny Wright of Gaffney, S.C. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Davis Spencer. Private graveside services will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1449, Gaffney, S.C. 29342. The family will be at their respective homes.
