Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota with Rev. Gregory Hinners and Seminarian Derek Roberts officiating. Vivian Dorothy Lehman was born Aug. 22, 1918, to Eric and Viola (Schumacher) Lehman. She was born and raised on the family farm that her father established west of Cresbard and resided there until 1992. She graduated from Cresbard High School in 1936 as valedictorian of her class. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and married Claire Fredrick Kono on May 20, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wecota. Vivian was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wecota, a member of LWML, where she served as treasurer and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved gardening and plants all year long.After Vivian's stroke in 1992, she resided at Bethesda Nursing Home in Aberdeen. Vivian loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Viv's pride and joy was her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vivian's memory will be cherished by her husband, Claire F. Kono of Aberdeen; sister, Evelyn Williams of Alden, Minn.; children: Chad C. (Jane) Kono of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Maureen V. (James) Roberts of Aberdeen, Janeen E. (Larry) Meier of Cresbard, and Rodney K. (Cyrece) Kono of Aberdeen; grandchildren: Travis J. Roberts, Derek A. Roberts, Anthony C. Meier, Joshua L. Meier, Melissa A. Kono, Eric C. Kono, Dustin C. Kono, and Shane B. Kono; great-grandchildren: Morgan T. Roberts, Katherine E. Roberts, and Alec Kono; sister-in-law Beth Kono. She is preceded in death by her mother Viola (Schumacher) Lehman and father Eric Lehman. Published in the Aberdeen News on 11/26/2005.
