Description	:	Vivian Elizabeth Kiefer was born on November 23, 1928, at Clear Creek, Iowa in Keokuk County. She was the sixth of seven children that were born to Jacob and Katherine (Becker) Kiefer. Vivian's father died when she was just a young girl and her mother continued to maintain the household while she attended country school. Read More	Vivian Elizabeth Kiefer was born on November 23, 1928, at Clear Creek, Iowa in Keokuk County. She was the sixth of seven children that were born to Jacob and Katherine (Becker) Kiefer. Vivian's father died when she was just a young girl and her mother continued to maintain the household while she attended country school. She later moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa where she meet the love of her life, Kenneth LeRoy Stein. Vivian and Kenneth were united in marriage on November 4, 1946, and to this union their four children were born: Terry, Barbara, Dick, and Sue. Vivian and Kenneth began raising their children on a farm near Sigourney, Iowa until they purchased their farm near Hedrick, Iowa in 1972. Vivian later obtained her GED and attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa and classes at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. After the children were grown and left home she worked at the Hedrick Post Office. Vivian and Kenneth had hosted two foreign exchange students and enjoyed their farm life together until his death in 2010. Following his death she continued to reside there until 2013 when she moved to Newton, Iowa to be near her daughter, Sue. In April, 2020, she became a resident at Homestead ALF in Knoxville, Iowa, adjusted well, and passed away peacefully on May 12, 2021, at the age of 92 years. Vivian is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren: Terry and Barb Stein of Greenwood, SC Stephanie and Bert Myers (Aedyn & Brennan) Dave and Jesica Dziekan (Parker & Payton) Barbara Kehr of Nemaha, NE Mary Ann and Matt Sarver (Luke, Ryan & Rachel) Mike and Heather Flahive (Hannah) Angie and Rod Moser (Meckenzie & Dalton) Dick and Alice Stein of Oakland, CA Sue and Chris Agan of Knoxville, IA Emily and Cory Barnard (Logan, Talan, & Syndey) Ashley Bassett (Bria & Brayton) Bret and Abby Agan (Taylor & Kylie) Bleu Agan (Emma) Of her original family Vivian leaves an older sister, Lily, and her husband, Don Bosley of St. Charles, MO; and the following sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marge (Stein) and Earl Jones of Hayesville, IA, Patricia (Stein) and Jim Reynolds of Sigourney, IA and Judy Stein of Tupelo, MS; along with many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her son-in-law, Dave Crook, her grandson, Benjamin Crook and a great-grandson, Pete Sarver; her parents, Jacob and Katherine Kiefer; and the following brothers and sisters and their spouses: Kenneth and Doris Kiefer, Richard and Colleen Kiefer, Genevieve and Paul Ott, Virginia and Nick Ott, Darlene and Keith Ruggle. Vivian, was a former member of the Catholic Church, and presently attended the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Iowa. She was a VERY good cook, enjoyed China painting, quilting, and sewing, providing her family with many beautiful quilts. Memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 6:00 pm First Methodist Church, Knoxville, Iowa
