Description	:	Vivian Illeen Alberts, age 94, of Aurora passed away on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at Memorial Community Care in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 10th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Pastor Michelle Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Read More	Vivian Illeen Alberts, age 94, of Aurora passed away on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at Memorial Community Care in Aurora. Vivian Illeen Larsen was born on July 4, 1926 in Marquette, NE to Harold (Shorty) and Ida Viola Danhauer Larsen. She had 3 older siblings when she and her twin, Vaughn, were born followed by another sibling. She spent her childhood years in the Marquette area, graduating from Marquette High School in 1943. Following her high school graduation, Vivian attended Normal Training before teaching in the Marquette district and Stockham area. She continued teaching until a young man from the Stockham area caught her eye. After they were married in 1945, they lived in Denver where Bob was stationed in the Army. After his discharge, they lived on a farm south of Aurora. Bob and Vivian's three oldest children were born while on the farm. A devastating fire consumed their home in spring of 1959 and left them only with their lives and a set of American Fostoria dishes. Another home was built on the farm place where they continued to live until 1961 when they moved to Giltner. They then bought and operated Miller's Grocery Store. The youngest child was born while living in Giltner. Following the sale of the grocery store, Vivian became the Food Manager for Giltner Public Schools, a position she held for 24 years before retiring. Following Bob's stroke, she became his caregiver and visited him every day in Aurora when she finished her job at school. Never one to have idle hands, she also cleaned the Giltner Methodist Church, the Town Hall and homes in Aurora. Following her marriage in 1997 to Ole Alberts, they lived on a farm near El Dorado until moving to Aurora in 2009. Ole and his first wife raised a grandson, Tony. Vivian so enjoyed visits and phone calls from him. Tony was so very good to Vivian and his grandpa Ole. Tony was a tremendous help to his grandpa and upon graduation from high school, Tony joined the Navy. Vivian and Ole enjoyed each other's families, loved to do some traveling, and especially liked to do some bus trips for gambling. Plus visiting with their neighbors over a cup of coffee. Vivian enjoyed music and helped entertain at various community functions and nursing homes. She played the piano with a group called Three Peaches and a Prune. They had such good times together, but nothing was more important to her than her family. Her favorite quote was always, "I have the best family ever." She loved spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. I'm sure each of them could tell you a special story they have of their grandma. They brought her such joy. Vivian's pride would swell when she would talk of how her three sons all served in the military along with many other family members, which was always quite evident by the pictures she always displayed of them in their uniforms. Being a social person, Vivian never knew a stranger and always had a smile for those she met. And, being appreciative for what others did for her was high on her list. Vivian learned to play the piano "by ear" and she could be found sitting down and striking up a tune when she saw a piano. Vivian's smile and easy laughter will be missed by all who were fortunate to cross paths with her. She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, Bob and Nels (Ole), 2 sisters, 3 brothers, her parents and in-laws, and a granddaughter, Michelle. She is survived by her 4 children, Janie of Broken Bow, Allen (Kay) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Brian (Shirley) of Clayton NC and Kevin (Jolene) of Frederick, MD, step-daughter Pat Alberts of Overland Park, KS. She was blessed by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews.
