Read More	Parents of Tom, Kathryn, Dick Obituary: Vivian Andersen, 89, Soldier, Iowa died Wednesday May 31, 2006 at Creighton Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. Vivian Lucile was born February 10, 1917 in rural Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of Ole G. and Ada (Wingate) Norby. She was raised in the Soldier area where she graduated from Soldier Public School in 1934. She received a teaching certificate from Waldorf College in 1936 and started her teaching career in elementary education at Callender, Iowa. During World War II, she joined "Rosie the Riveter" at a bomber plant in Omaha, Nebraska. After the war, she moved back to Soldier with her parents and taught elementary grades at the Soldier Public School. Vivian and Harry Andersen were united in marriage February 25, 1950 at Soldier Lutheran Church. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Soldier area. She was a lifelong member of Soldier Lutheran Church where she held many offices and was also active in community affairs among them being Farm Bureau Women's Group President and 4-H Leader. Vivian and Harry were very honored to be chosen King and Queen of the Soldier Centennial. Survivors include her husband, Harry of Soldier; two sons, Tom and his wife Lisa of Madrid, IA and Dick of Soldier; a daughter and her husband, Kathryn "Kathy" and Paul Kalmoe of Madrid; five grandchildren, Dustin, Tyler and Nathan Andersen and Sarah and Shauna Kalmoe and a great grandchild, Ella Andersen. She was preceded in death by her parents; as sister Helen Middleton and a brother, Herbert Norby. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Middleton and a bother, Herbert Norby. Funeral services were Saturday June, 3, 2006 at Soldier Lutheran Church, with Pastor Meggan Manlove officiating. Music selections were "Borning Cry" and Melissa Jepsen, soloist and solos, "My Fatith Looks Up To Thee" with Marc Clemon, soloist. Jean Dommer was organist. Burial was in Jordan Township Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. Casket bearers were Leonard Jenson, Paul Jensen, Alan Hadden, David Kruse and Rick Davis. Honorary beareres were Bruce Jepson, Vonley Hanson, Willis Hanson, Wendell Hanson, Fred Dumkreiger, Jerry Jones and Lee Clemons.
