Vivian was born near Winterset, IA to Emery and Lola Shearer and graduated from Macksburg High School. She married Verle V. Smith on January 20, 1952, and lived in Waukee. Vivian was a member of Waukee Christian Church. L She retired from the Des Moines Water Works and spent winters in Mesa, AZ. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, she also enjoyed walking, hiking, biking, golf and playing cards. Vivian will be missed by all who knew her, especially those closest to her, her children, Ken and his wife, Priscilla of New York City, NY, Gary and his wife, Mary Jo of Waukee and their daughters, Danielle (Marc) Emmert and Mandy (Jeff) Baker, both of Urbandale, Gail and his wife Ginger of Urbandale, and Elaine Clarke of and her son, Braden of Mesa, AZ; grandson Jamie Smith and his wife, Amy and their children Jayden, Jamie and Amina of Granger and Jason Smith and his wife, Megan and their daughter, Emree. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her granddaughter, Leah Smith and her siblings, Dean Shearer and Doris Bailey. Memorial contributions may be made to Waukee Christian Church.
