Description	:	The Mathews Journal, Thu, 14 Aug 1930 Mr. Vivian Vandorn Shipley, of Cobbs Creek, died at his home on August 6, at the age of 67 years. He had been a long and patient sufferer, and a well known and highly respected citizen. He was a member of Chapel Lodge, No. 235, I.O.O.F. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Shipley, three sons, J. V., C. W. and V. V. Shipley, Jr., of Cobbs Creek, two daughters, Miss Hyacinth Shipley, of Cobbs Creek, and Mrs. Mava Hudgins, one half sister, Mrs. M. E. Haynie, of Fairport, Va.; one... He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Shipley, three sons, J. V., C. W. and V. V. Shipley, Jr., of Cobbs Creek, two daughters, Miss Hyacinth Shipley, of Cobbs Creek, and Mrs. Mava Hudgins, one half sister, Mrs. M. E. Haynie, of Fairport, Va.; one half brother, Mr. R. P. Waller, of Fleeton, Va., and a number of grandchildren, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at Mathews Chapel August 8, at 2 p.m. of which he was a member for many years, by his pastor, Rev. H. F. Turner, assisted by Rev. A. J. Arthur. Interment was made in Haynes Cemetery. The active pallbearers were Dr. J. W. D. Haynes, Capt. George Wagenen, Fay LeCompte, Bailey Adams, L. M. Travers, C. C. Soles. Honorary pallbearers were R. E.
