Description	:	Son of Martin & Ann (Meyer) Uhlenhopp U S Marine ~ Vietnam Vet∼Von Craig Uhlenhopp, age 69, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Elk Grove, California and Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of Martin and Ann (Meyer) Uhlenhopp on August 4, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa. Read More	Son of Martin & Ann (Meyer) Uhlenhopp U S Marine ~ Vietnam Vet∼Von Craig Uhlenhopp, age 69, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Elk Grove, California and Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of Martin and Ann (Meyer) Uhlenhopp on August 4, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa. He received his education from the Aplington School and graduated high school in 1965. He had received the Lord as his Savior prior to entering in the United States Marines. He served the during the Vietnam War from July 26, 1966, and was honorably discharged on July 16, 1968. In 1969 Von was united in marriage Lisa Hoffman at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parkersburg. The couple was later divorced. Through the years Von had worked at Chamberlin and John Deere and later he worked at PCI in Waterloo working with heavy equipment. He moved to California in 1990 and was a heavy equipment operator. In 2015 he moved back to Cedar Falls. Von was a lifetime member of the Aplington AMVETS. He enjoyed playing pool, going gold mining and fishing. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing horse shoes. He enjoyed time spent with family, all of their get-togethers and especially competing in bean bag toss. Von went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Manor Care Center in Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Von is survived by one son, Mark (Holly) Schreiner of Rice, MN; two grandsons, Nate and Joey; one brother, Clint (Renee) Uhlenhopp of Cedar Falls; one sister, Linda (Frank) Miller of Aplington; and many nieces and nephews.
