Miles and the late Ellen Crawford Miles, and was the widower of the late Elma Elizabeth McGee of Coward. Mr. Miles grew up in Coward and was educated in the schools of Florence County. Mr. Miles... Read More	Mr. Miles was born in Coward on August 20th, 1920. He was a son of the late Hazard S. Miles and the late Ellen Crawford Miles, and was the widower of the late Elma Elizabeth McGee of Coward. Mr. Miles grew up in Coward and was educated in the schools of Florence County. After finishing high school, he attended and graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture, the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics, and from Emanuel Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Divinity. Mr. Miles retired from the United States Navy where he served as a radio operator during World War II, seeing extensive combat action in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a hard worker, having done many jobs such as being the postmaster in Coward, selling insurance, being a salesman at Sears, and becoming a minister. Mr. Miles was the Senior Pastor at Ray of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church in Beaufort until his retirement. Mr. Miles had a gift and ability for striking up a conversation and becoming friends with anyone. He was charismatic, funny, honest, reliable, and, most strongly, was selfless. Mr. Miles was always there for you. He would not be judgmental towards your lifestyle or your problems; he just sincerely wanted to help. Mr. Miles was most interested in what he wanted to give you to make you happy, more so than what you could do for his pleasure. In his spare time, he loved to hunt, fish on the lakes and rivers around Charleston, and, most especially, spoil his grandchildren. He would never tell them "no". Mr. Miles gained his greatest satisfaction in life by seeing his family happy. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Mr. Miles' surviving family includes his son, Wayne L. Miles, of Hanahan; his former daughter-in-law, Donna B. Miles, of Lyman; his three grandchildren, Barry A. Miles (Kim), of Summerville, Ambre K. Dunn (Shawn), of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, and Patrick Miles (Nikki Wilson), of Summerville; his five great-grandchildren, Logan S. Dunn, Kendal Lasby, Greyson Miles, Noah Miles, and Sigrid Miles; and various nieces and nephews and extended family around the Pee Dee and Low Country. The family of Mr. Miles will have visiting hours from one until three o'clock p.m., Tuesday, December 6th, 2011, in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Miles will be held at three o'clock p.m., Tuesday, December 6th, 2011, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral services in Mossy Grove Cemetery.
