Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” May 11, 1946 William Thomas Snell, 87 died at 1 a.m. today at his home, 701 Lee avenue. He was born November 2, 1858, in Davis county, the son of George and Sarah Turpin Snell, and had lived in Ottumwa for the past 33 years. He was a member of the Baptist church at Dunnville. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Frank Koeble, Floris route 2; Mrs. Willie Luko, Bloomfield, and Lowell Snell, Ottumwa. Is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Spurgeon of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Josie Snell; one son Oscar and by a daughter, Maudie. He was married December 22, 1879 to Lucy Alice Pence, the mother of his children. He was later married to Josie Blizzard, who died five years ago. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Roscoe Morrison with burial in the Dunnville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be C. B. Moore, Charles Hurd, Herman Miller, Roy Eyer, Earl Jones and William Wagner.
