Propst passed away at his home in Geneva, Neb., at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 1930, aged 57 years and 4 days. Dr. Propst was born at Platteville, Ia., April 6, 1873. When a small boy, he came to Geneva with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Morgan Propst. He attended the Geneva schools, graduated from high school in 1894. He served a short time as deputy postmaster of Geneva, and then entered the Omaha Dental College. Upon his graduation in 1901 he opened a dental office in Geneva and continued the practice of his profession here until about three months before his death, with the exception of two short periods of residence in California for the benefit of his health. Dr. Propst was married to Miss Mabel Donovan of Geneva, December 24, 1901. To this union was born one son, Kenneth, now a student at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Propst was a member of the Methodist church. He was active along many lines of community enterprise. He served many years as a member of the Geneva Board of Education, most of the time as secretary. He also served as a member of the City Library Board and on the City Council. He was a member of the Geneva Community Club and had served as a director. The deceased took great interest in the various Masonic bodies of Geneva. He was past master of the blue lodge and also served several years as secretary and in other offices. He was a past high priest of Triune Chapter and served as secretary of the chapter and of Naomi Council. He was a charter member of both chapter and council. He was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter and of the Geneva Odd Fellow Lodge. He had been a member of the Scottish Rite Masonic bodies of Lincoln since 1917, when he attained the thirty-second degree. Shortly afterwards he became a member of the Shrine. A few years later he received the honorably degree of a K. C. C. H., an unusual honor to be given outside of the cities. Dr. Propst was a man of generous nature and was beloved by all who knew him. His many friends had hoped that his illness would yield to treatment, but it proved to be of an uncurable nature. He spent the winter of 1925 in California. In 1928 he leased his equipment and spent a year on the west coast, returning here and taking charge of his office May 1, 1929. After he was stricken, he underwent an operation at Hot Springs, S. D., but this gave only temporary relief. Dr. Propst is survived by his wife and son, and two brothers, Clyde of Geneva and Carl of Fort Morgan, Col. The funeral was held at the Geneva Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, Rev. Harold C. Capsey officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Masonic funeral honors were given at the grave. The Nebraska Signal 17 Apr. 1930 front page and page 6.
