Description	:	Daily Times, Dubuque, Iowa Wednesday 06 Oct 1897 Wales Smith, a prominent citizen of Greeley, Iowa, went out hunting squirels last Thursday and had his gun directly in front of him, waiting to get a shot at a squirrel, when both barrels were accidentally discharged, the stock of the gun striking him in the addomen as the result of the recoil. Then he sent for Dr. Allen Staples of this city who went out Monday to see him. He gives it as his opinion that the bowels are ruptured, and that Mr. Smith cannot live. Daily Times, Dubuque, Iowa Friday 08 Oct 1897 Wales Smith, the young farmer living near Edgewood, and who was severely injuired from the kick of a gun while hunting squirrels, has since died, the funeral occuring Wednesday. His brother tells us that while holding the gun in front of him both barrels were discharged, the recoil being so severe as to cause death as state by Dr. Staples.
