Known as "Wally," he was born to Frank and Ada Fisk on April 16, 1918, in Itasca County, Minnesota Mr. Fisk graduated from Coleraine, Minnesota, public schools and attended Itasca Junior College before graduating from Grinnell (Iowa) College with a bachelor's degree in business in 1940. During World War II, he served in the National Guard. Mr. Fisk married Doris Weaver in 1940 in Gilman, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1985. From 1940 to 1945, he worked for First National Bank of St. Paul in Minnesota. In 1945, Mr. Fisk went to work for John Nuveen & Co., where he was a regional manager, vice president, member of the board of directors, and a municipal bond professional during his 38-year career with the company. In 1987, he married Gloria Ceuleers in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 2000. Mr. Fisk lived in Durango from 2000 to 2008, after moving there to live near his daughter, former Durango School District 9-R Superintendent Mary Barter. While in Durango, Mr. Fisk was a member of the Rotary Club of Durango, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed traveling, including a South American cruise with his son-in-law and daughter, Clint and Mary Barter, and visiting family and friends in the Midwest. He also enjoyed reading, walking, visiting regional attractions such as Mesa Verde National Park and Santa Fe, learning about Western heritage, browsing through local galleries, music -including Music in the Mountains and the San Juan Symphony - friends and following his daughter's exploits as superintendent. Mr. Fisk was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Doris Fisk, and wife of 13 years, Gloria Fisk. He is survived by his daughters Mary Fisk Barter of Durango and Janet Helen Fisk of Stillwater, Minnesota; son, Wallace Kremer Fisk Jr., of St. Paul, Minnesota; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cremation has occurred. A private service will be held in Gilman, Iowa, at a later date.
