Duff was born on November 25, 1931 in Marysville to Wallace L. and Gladys (Rakestraw) Libby. He graduated Marysville High School in 1949. On September 3, 1950, he married Phyllis Blocker at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville. Duff entered the U.S. Navy on January 17, 1951 and went to basic training in San Diego, CA. He was stationed in Adak Island, Alaska. After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Marysville and worked with his father for a year. Duff started as a clerk-typist with Marysville Mutual Insurance Company and advanced to become President of the company, retiring in July 1992. Duff served as president of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, was a proud member of the Shriners organization for over forty years and was a member of the Oriental Band. Duff and Phyllis enjoyed camping, dancing and traveling during their marriage. They would have been married sixty-eight years in September. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Corky Tidwell, Pat Nork; and brother-in-laws, Bob Potter and Earl Tidwell. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughters, Kim (Pat) Mulhern, Sierra Vista, AZ, Dana (Cork) Holle, Herkimer, Penny (Joe) Howell, Melissa (Jim) Borderding, both of Marysville; sister, Bunny Potter; brother-in-laws, Gary (Dora) Blocker, Bob Nork; and ten grandchildren, Sean Mulhern, Mike Mulhern, Russ Holle, Bob Holle, Reese Holle, Meredith Bergmann, Mark Howell, James Borgerding, Jill Borgerding and Jodee Borgerding; nine great grandchildren, Rohan Mulhern, Emilyn Holle, Ashna Mulhern, Miriam Holle, Ravi Mulhern, Saoirse and Selah Mulhern, Allan Bergmann and Wrigley Howell, due in October; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established to the St. Gregory’s Catholic School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary. [The Hanover News/July 20, 2018/pg 3]
