Walter died on April 9, 1956 and is buried in Oakland Cemetery beside his wife Lydia Emma with whom he shares a headstone. His daughter Josephine and son Maurice share the opposite side of the headstone and are buried immediately behind their parents. ****** OBITUARY: The Cumberland News (Cumberland, Maryland), Tuesday, 10 April 1956 - Page 5. OAKLAND – Walter Albert Wolf, 58, died yesterday morning in Newton D. Baker VA Center, Martinsburg, W.Va. He had been in ill health for the past two years and had been hospitalized for two weeks. A native of Oakland, he was born February 11, 1898 and was a son of the late Fredolen and Mary Martha (Wolf) Wolf, who died on March 15 this year. Mr. Wolf was a veteran of World War I and had been an employee of the Western Maryland Power Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge here and also Proctor-Kildow Post American Legion. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church where a requiem mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Carney, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery. The body is at the Bolden Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Military rites will be conducted on Thursday by members of the National Guard unit here. Surviving are his wife, Lydia E. Wolf, a daughter, Josephine, at home; two sons, Walter Wolf, Langley Filed, Va., Maurice Wolf, at home; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Kienhofer, of Cumberland; two brothers, Fredolen and Thomas Wolf, both of here.
