He was born in Monroe, N.C., September 9, 1917, the son of R.E. Heath and Isabelle Andrews Heath. He graduated from Monroe High School and was a veteran of World War II having served as a gunnery instructor in the U.S. Air Force. (more recently of Trinity Oaks, Salisbury, N.C.), died Friday, January 7, 2005. He was born in Monroe, N.C., September 9, 1917, the son of R.E. Heath and Isabelle Andrews Heath. He graduated from Monroe High School and was a veteran of World War II having served as a gunnery instructor in the U.S. Air Force. In 1946 following the war, Mr. Heath moved to Kannapolis, N.C. where he co-owned and operated a men's clothing store until his retirement. The store provided salesmanship training for many wonderful high school and college students and was considered by some to be the "town center" for downtown Kannapolis. Mr. Heath served as a board member and president of the Carolina Association of Retail Clothiers, as president of the Kannapolis Lions Club, was a member of the Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Heath is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lallah Watts Heath, a daughter, Nancy Heath Isakson and her husband, Andrew, of Atlanta, and a son, Walter Andrews Heath Jr. and his wife, Claudia, of Charlotte, and his grandchildren, Isabelle Heath Isakson, Edwin Andrew Isakson Jr., Jean Prentice Manning, Martha Pemberton Heath, and Claudia Coker Heath. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 416 East First Street, Kannapolis, NC 28203. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2005, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, N.C. The family will greet friends in the narthex of the church following the service. The Reverends Kevin Honbarger and Jim Yow will conduct the service. Burial will be private at the Monroe Cemetery. Whitley's Funeral Home is assisting the Heath family. ------------------------------------
