He was baptized on January 16,1927 and attended Bible School at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Anamosa. He received a certificate of Confirmation on June 16, 1940. Read More	SOURCE: THE ANAMOSA EUREKA...OCTOBER 21, 1948....PAGE 3 Walter Sch&fer 1926 - 1918 Walter August Schafer, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Schafer, was born, on December 16, 1926 at Montieello, Iowa. He was baptized on January 16,1927 and attended Bible School at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Anamosa. He received a certificate of Confirmation on June 16, 1940. During his youth he attended school at Cass No. 5 and following this assisted his father with the farm work. On October 16, 1946 he entered into matrimony with Miss Delphihe Lange of Hopkinton. They made their home with the parental Mr. and Mrs. Schafer. Splendid health and a cheerful disposition were Walter's happy lot until the fateful evening of October 15. His sudden departure is mourneby his loving wife, Delphine, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harm Schafer; two brother's, Ernest and Joe; and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends. One brother, Louie, preceded him in death in March of 1943. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 19, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. H. L. Buesing in charge. Hymns were sung by Rev. Buesing and George Wessels. Pallbearers were Ray Larson, William Baumann, Eniil Oltmanns, Albert Kray, William Eilers and Ptiane Tlioleh. Interment was made in the Riverside cemeterv at Anamosa.
