Description	:	Walter Burton Dawson, 96, of Ararat, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Carroll County on February 27, 1915, and was a son of the late Arthur and Minnie Branson Dawson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Clinnie Belle Dawson and Hassie Haynes; and three brothers, Garnet, Luke and Eugene Dawson. He was a retired orchardist. Read More	Walter Burton Dawson, 96, of Ararat, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Carroll County on February 27, 1915, and was a son of the late Arthur and Minnie Branson Dawson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Clinnie Belle Dawson and Hassie Haynes; and three brothers, Garnet, Luke and Eugene Dawson. He was a retired orchardist. For many years he worked with the Levering Orchards and also had orchards of his own. Surviving are his wife, Julia Haynes Dawson, and one daughter, Carol Dawson both of the home; one brothet, Glenn Dawson of Cana; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Oak Grove Baptist Church by Joey Haynes, Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to David Dawson, 3195 Wards Gap Rd., Cana, VA 24317 for an evergreen tree fund in memory of Mr. Dawson. Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, N.C.
